At the end of 2016, the Canadian government approved a reckless plan that would bring tar sands oil across waters shared by Canada and Washington state. The proposed project would make the Kinder Morgan pipeline bigger than Keystone XL, and increase tanker traffic through the Salish Sea by 700 percent.
First Nations have vowed to stop it in the courts, and people, businesses, and community groups are raising funds to support them. We've partnered with First Nations who need help with the legal actions they've filed in federal court to stop Kinder Morgan. Together with organizations in British Columbia and Washington state, we are organizing events, and bringing communities together to raise these funds.
